TiVo Publisher Version 1.31

Version 1.31 is now available for download here. The following bugs have been fixed:
  • Resolution is now properly determined for some files which prevented transfer (e.g., m4v).
  • Large Music or Photo libraries should now work properly.
  • Fixed The TV Db searches not working due to API change.
  • Updated ffmpeg build to r13712

You will need to uninstall the previous version through the WHS Console, copy the MSI to the Software\Add-Ins folder, and install the new version.

  • When prompted for credentials during installation, enter ".\Administrator" for the user and your Server password for the password. Note: If you receive a message that users cannot be mapped, then double check the username. It may be case sensitive.

The Frequently Asked Questions document contains more detailed setup instructions and a description of settings.

Thank you so much for this update. V1.3 published almost half of what we watched this summer. I am looking forward to seeing if V1.31 can continue the trend.

Update installs nicely and thetvdb metadata feature is working great, but I do notice much longer pauses (of up to 10 seconds) on my tivo when browsing whs video shares containing 10+ items (compared with the near instantaneous respones of v1.3). I've tried rebuilding the cache but it's made no difference :-(

Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me?

I removed version 1.3 and installed 1.31. Have a couple of problems. When I try to put in username it will not accept my server name. I have to use just \Administrator instead of REESSERVER\Administrator. After install I cannot get the service to run. When I try to start the service manually it just closes the add in page. Checked the ports and they are in the exceptions tab and look fine. Help!

I think I figured out what was causing my Tivo Publisher ver 1.31 not to work. I only typed in \Administrator for the user name. There is a . in front of that and I did not notice it until just a few minutes ago. Reinstalled and it seems to be working now. Thanks Rob for all your hard work on this program. I am sure I will put it to the test with my large library of media files. Thanks again!

    Hi.
    Nice add-in.
    I don't know if it's possible:
Is there a way to show directory structure?
The *.mp3 section of the server has full structure.
I also kind of remember Galleon also did the same at one point.

    Any insight appreciated.

    Dave

You have two different screen shots of the main Service Settings.

The first looks like mine: there is no "Advanced" link for Photos.

Your second screen shot clearly shows "Advanced.." for both photos and videos.

I've got Java 1.6 (just installed today). Also have the files copied from Tivo Desktop 2.6.

How do I enable the "Advanced" link for photos? Or am I missing something?

Any chance this COOL add-in will see any update? It can't handle my library of 200 movies.

Thank you! Is there any possibility that this will be upgraded to support the TiVo Desktop Plus capability to stream Divx .avi etc. directly to the TiVo? It is very much faster than converting and streaming MPEG-2

Thank you Rob for this really terrific WHS add-on. Though it's fairly well documented in the current FAQ, I would love to see a little more information about codecs which work particularly well from Handbrake. I've been having trouble reliably converting files to a format which the TiVo Publisher can convert (I'll try to start the transfer to the TiVo and it will end immediately)

Just updated from 1.1 to 1.31 and though it seems to work great, I notice now that folders within folders are all ordered wrong. Is this a part of the Tivo folder bug? I never had this problem with the old version.

Does anyone know what file format the tivo series 3 supports such as .ts, .mkv, etc.?????

And if this plugin will stream the above formats?

    "Advanced" Photos link missing

Similar issue to aleghart's listed above.

The "Advanced" link for Photos does not appear in my settings window.

I have latest Java installed and have copied files from TiVo Desktop 2.7+

    Any advice?

    Thanks!

thanks for this add-in. I'm using it successfully with an Australian TiVo.

Though I also lack the missing "Advanced Photo" option, I mainly use this for movies and for that it works nicely :)

    Echoing John's comment/question.

I do not have the Advanced checkbox for photos and I really would like to have this feature.

    Any chance for an update?

Are there any pre-requisites to get it to show up?

Excellent add-in, thanks much for providing it for free.

    To join the chorus:

    - I also do not see the 'Advanced...' link for the photo settings despite having all prerequisites installed, and would love to use the HD photo app.

    - Enabling video streaming to the Tivo would be great; have you looked at 'StreamBaby' (http://code.google.com/p/streambaby/)?

Thanks for creating the add-in. I notice that the transfer of video to my "Now Playing" is very slow. All my network setup is working correctly. In fact, I have a mac that does the same thing with Tivo and the transfer is working at full speed. Does anyone else have the same problem? Any pointer where I should look at?

I too love this add-in. I know some of these posts are old, but I am also experiencing very slow video download speeds. I mean very slow as in less than real time.

    Rob-

Thanks for pulling this together, I really love the Add-In! Is there any chance that you can release a version with the ability to set the target folders for "Videos" to something other than "Videos?" I us an HP MediaServer and would like to point my TIVO to the "Converted Videos" folder. I'd be willing to donate for this particular "upgrade" heh heh

    Thanks Again!

    Hi Rob,

Thanks much for providing such a useful tool. I did hit the donate button quite a while back. It takes forever to stream something to my TiVo, but that's my fault for using an underpowered server.

Given the time since the last update, and the seeming unlikelyhood that you'll do any more updates, have you considered putting this up as open-source?

    Thanks,
    Jamie

I was a little reluctant to install this add-in since it is over a year old, but went ahead and it seems to work fine (though slow). Thank you for doing this!

In fact it is one of the few apps on my HP EX495 that isn't giving me problems.

Agree with Jamie that making the source available would be nice.

I am also seeing the slow download speeds. It would be great to see an update to this or better yet, have the source released! Then we can all help out making this the best it can be.

Thanks for all the work you've already done, Can you help me further?

It's been years since Rob has responded either here or elsewhere.

It's been a good piece of software, and I've definitely gotten my money's worth (yes, I really donated).

I really wish I could get a look at the source and see if we could fix how hideously slow it is. It doesn't look like that's going to happen, though.

Hi, I have an HP Media server PP3 with HP's 3.3.1... front end and I cannot get the Tivo publisher to run. I start the publisher and it does not stay started. Any ideas?
