TiVo Publisher Version 1.1

Note: Version 1.31 is now available for download.

Version 1.1 is now available for download here. This update brings performance improvements and fixes a few bugs.

You will need to uninstall the previous version through the WHS Console, copy the MSI to the Software\Add-Ins folder, and install the new version.

Note: There is still a problem with video subfolders due to a bug on TiVo's end and the select-back workaround no longer works with the 9.1 update. There is now an option to display all of the items in one big list as TiVo Desktop does in the Settings.

UPDATE: 11/23/2007 - The download link has been fixed; it was pointing to the 1.0 installer.

  • When prompted for credentials during installation, enter "server\Administrator" for the user and your Server password for the password. Note: If your server machine is not named "server", then substitute your WHS box machine name in "server\Administrator". If you receive a message that users cannot be mapped, then double check the username. It may be case sensitive.
  • You will need to manually open UDP port 2190 using the Windows Firewall control panel, in addition to the port that TiVo/WHS uses, which is 6103 (TCP) by default. (See here for instructions.) If your network router also has a built-in hardware firewall, you may need to open the ports in your router's setup.

Great job! Few small 1.1 bugs:
    1) Thumbnails of vertical photos are correct, but when viewing, they are flipped upsidedown.

    2) When viewed over the tivo, my photos are squished horizontally by the addition of black bars added to left and right edges. My tv is 4:3 and none of the widescreen options are turned on.

For some reason I cannot start the tivo service via the console. During the attempt to start the tivo service, the whs console times out and I have to re-start it.

I rebooted the server but this did not help. I can't think why this worked fine when I first installed it and now, after doing nothing with the system for a few weeks.

Ok here is the problem: If you change the WHS admin password, the tivo service will not start from the console.

You have to log into the server and go to administrative tools/services... then find the tivo WHS plugin service. There, put the correct (new) admin password in the service startup fields.

Durfee: is there a WHS-console solution you can add to sync password changes? Or perhaps have a help popup for if the service will not start?
