- This episode is a follow up to Season 1's "Crisis Point". Like the original, it contains many references to the movies.
- In this holonovel, Boimler plays Captain Bucephalus Dagger, commanding officer of the U.S.S. Wayfarer NCC-80035, a Sovereign-class starship.
- This is the first appearance of Sulu since the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Flashback" (though he is actually a hallucination here).
- Boimler is informed that his transporter clone, William, died in a gas leak in his quarters on the U.S.S Titan. The end of the episode reveals that his death was faked and he was recruited into Section 31. (William was created in the second season episode "Kayshon, His Eyes Open".)
