Neelix helps Samantha put Naomi to bed
Synopsis

Neelix is preparing a shipboard feast on the eve of Prixin, the Talaxian celebration of family, when he is asked by Chakotay to join him and Paris on a shuttle mission. Neelix is all too glad to help, but the assignment proves to be fatal for him. Upon the shuttle's return to the U.S.S. Voyager, Seven of Nine, citing Neelix's diverse functions within the crew, applies Borg nanoprobe technology to reactivate him. Alive and shaken by his death, Neelix questions his assumptions about life — and the promised afterlife — as the Prixin festivities commence.

Guest Cast

Nancy Hower (Ensign Samantha Wildman)
Brooke Ashley Stephens (Naomi Wildman)
Robin Stapler (Alixia)

Notes
  • Alixia was Neelix' sister, who was killed by the Metreon Cascade (see "Jetrel").
  • Naomi Wildman was born in the 2nd season episode "Deadlock". (Kids on Star Trek sure grow fast!)
  • When Chakotay helps Neelix have his vision quest, he is told in his vision that there's no afterlife and that he "knows what he has to do" and he tries to kill himself. In the Next Generation episode "Eye of the Beholder", Lt. Pierce tells Counselor Troi the same thing in her empathic flashback and she then tries to kill herself.
  • Not counting repeats, this episode has the distinction of being the lowest Nielson-rated episode of Voyager, with a 3.9 rating.
