- The U.S.S. Cerritos arrives on Deep Space 9 to negotiate trade with the Karemma, who were introduced in the DS9 episode "Starship Down".
- This is the first appearance of the station Deep Space 9, Kira, and Quark since the DS9 series finale "What You Leave Behind". When the Cerritos arrives, the title theme from Deep Space Nine is heard.
- Shaxs refers to Deep Space 9 as the "tacky Cardassian fascist eyesore."
- Kira and Shaxs knew each other in the Resistance.
- Tendi and Rutherford meet another Orion in Starfleet. Mesk acts in an exaggerated Orion style and talking about pirates, but he was actually adopted and raised by humans on Earth (Cincinnati, Ohio), and he is mimicking bad holonovels (the ones with boobs on the cover).
- Mariner and Jennifer are officially an item. She spends the day with Jen's insufferable friends.
- The title is the 190th Rule of Acquisition, as revealed in the DS9 episode "A Call to Arms".
- Gillian Vigman (Dr. T'Ana) does not appear in this episode.
