Una Chin-Riley served on the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 under Captains Robert April and Christopher Pike. She served as the helm officer before promotion to first officer.Captain Robert April sponsored Una's application into Starfleet Academy.
In 2259, while the U.S.S. Enterprise was in dry dock for repairs, Chin-Riley commanded the U.S.S. Archer NCC-627 for a first contact investigation with planet Kiley 279 after a warp signature was detected.
In 2259, it was revealed that Una was an Illyrian and has genetic augmentations, including physical strength and immune system enhancements. Though a violation of Starfleet policy, Captain Christopher Pike rejected her resignation. When Starfleet learned of her augmentations, she was taken into custody.
She was ultimately found not guilty of all charges, and was granted official asylum under Starfleet Code 8514.
