- This episode is the Fall 2017 Finale, and the end of the group of episodes marketed as "Chapter 1."
- Burnham and Tyler plant sensors aboard the Klingon sarcophagus ship. After Stamets makes 133 spore jumps to collect data, they are able to track the ship and destroy it.
- Burnham rescues Admiral Cornwell, but Tyler is crippled by PTSD after running into L'Rell. L'Rell beams back to Discovery with them and is imprisoned in the brig.
- Lorca manipulates Stamets into making one more jump. During the jump, Lorca appears to override the navigation and the ship ends up in unknown space.
